Fairfield Soccer Fall 2018 Update – June 21 - Important

All,

Assessments:

Due to many coaches not being available I’m postponing the assessments to the week of July 9th, the updated schedule is posted below.

Assessments - Roberts Fields (Central Park)

July 9th, 2018 6:30pm-8:00pm - 7 Boys and 7 Girls

July 10th, 2018 6:30pm-8:00pm - 8 Boys and 8/9 Girls

July 11th, 2018

-          6:00pm-7:30pm - 9 Boys and 10-12 Girls

-          7:30pm-8:30pm - 10-11 Boys

Registration:

Registration is opened for all divisions until June 28th to allow coaches and late registration to sign up. If you register your child he/she will be placed on a waiting list. Depending on availability he/she will be placed on team. If you are coaching a team, your children will be placed on a team.

Wait List:

If your child is placed on a wait list it means that we do not have enough coaches for this division. As soon as more parents volunteer to coach players will be taken from the wait list.

The following divisions still need coaches (minimum number listed below):

Boys 4 – 2 coaches           Girls 4 – 2 coaches

Boys 5 – 4 coaches           Girls 5 – 3 coaches

Boys 7 – 2 coaches           Girls 6 – 1 coach

                                       Girls 7 – 1 coach

                                       Girls 10/12 – 1 coach

Coaches:

You will receive an updated list of coaches and players that have signed up in your division by this weekend as an FYI. If you already have a co-coach he/she needs to register by June 28th. We only allow 2 coaches per team. If you coach more than one team we will assist with practice times and game times.

Emails:

Please only email if your issue is urgent, currently email traffic is high. By opening the registration and postponing the assessments it should allow reducing the traffic.

Volunteers:

You will be contacted next week.

Thanks,

Chairman of the FSA (interim Soccer Commissioner)

General Overview of FSA Soccer

Fairfield Soccer is a recreational soccer league for the residents of Fairfield. Surrounding communities are able to join as long as there are vacancies on the teams.

We are a volunteer organization supported by the Fairfield Soccer Committee and we offer soccer for boys and girls ages 4-12 (depending on number of people signup for the age brackets).

Currently we only offer Soccer during the fall season running from August through November.

- All head coaches must complete a background check.
- Player Assessments will be held for ages 7-12.
- Practices are starting in August.

- Games will be mostly played on Saturday mornings, however games can be scheduled Saturday afternoon and on weekdays in the evenings. For the year end tournament we will schedule games on weekdays.

For ages 7 and up the season will be 8 games and a tournament will follow directly after the league schedule is completed. The start of the tournament will around end of October beginning of November, depending on how many rainout weekends we encounter. The 4-6 yr. old leagues are scheduled for 10 games weather permitting.

FSA Soccer introduces our 4 and 5 year old players to the game through small-sided soccer. This means there are six or seven players on a team and the games are 3 v 3 on small fields. The focus is on developing individual technical skills, learning the basic rules of the game in an environment where the children will have many opportunities to touch the ball, and having FUN! As the kids get older, we gradually increase the number of players and the size of the field. There are no try-outs for ages 4-6, kids are just assigned to a team.

Starting at age 7, players are required to participate in a skills assessment before the season begins. The older division leagues are competitive where standings are kept and divisional championships are awarded for the number 1 and 2 teams of each division. There is also a season ending divisional tournament following the league play. All teams will participate in the tournament.

Weather permitting all teams will play a minimum of 10 games. Ages 7-12 will play 8 league games followed by a tournament. All coaches must complete a background check.

I hope to see you in the Summer & Fall!
